  1. My 1st "real" job was at a bike shop. I started while in high school. I think it's a good thing. My very best friends now I met during that time many years ago. It was fun, I learned bike mechanics as well as small business operation.

Unfortunately the skills are not in demand as far as business goes and the pay is low. I guess people think it's a low-tech job, even the ones that can't do a darn thing on their own bikes. But it isn't important to me what people think.
  2. I don't work in a bike shop, but I certainly respect the skills and intelligence of my mechanic. On top of that he's a real nice guy! I think enough of him to remember his birthday and get him a token of my appreciation at Christmas.

People are people, it's what you think about your fellow human, not what they do for a living.
  3. i dont think working in a bike shop would be easy unless no one comes to it. i think that it would be a good thing.
  4. Yes, working on bicycles is a skill...Selling them, maybe...Is it a good thing ? It helps if you love bikes..
  5. to be a bike mechanic is not as easy as it seems, there is a lot to learn, I am trained as a mechanic and it is very hard, but if you like it and you get payed good it is a good job
